Hirschfeld to Speak at PLI 21st Annual Real Estate Tax Forum

Practising Law Institute is a nonprofit learning organization dedicated to keeping attorneys and other professionals at the forefront of knowledge and expertise. The organization hosts an annual tax forum focused on real estate. This year the forum will take place January 28-29, 2019 at the PLI New York Center in New York, NY. Andersen Managing Director, Michael Hirschfeld, willl present on a panel discussion titled Real Estate Investment Trusts - What's New in the REIT World & Non-U.S. Investors and FATCA.

Michael's panel discussion will go in-depth into multiple topics including the use of REITS under the new Section 199A, transactions with a REIT and 2017 Tax Act international tax changes that are most relevant to real estate. Other topics during the tax forum will include the latest developments in real estate taxation and partnership taxastion, using tiered partnerships and series LLCs, and simplified approaches for drafting effective tax provisions for partnership and LLC agreements. 

Michael Hirschfeld is a Managing Director in the firm's US National Tax office, where he focuses on international, partnership, corporate and real estate tax planning and compliance. Michael has over 40 years of experience with tax issues that affect partnerships/LLCs, REITs, cross-border investing, real estate acquisition, finance and investment, private equity, distressed debt, mergers and acquisitions, pharmaceutical, energy, and clean technology clients.
