Michael Vigil Joins Andersen in California as a SALT Director

Andersen announces the addition of Michael Vigil as a Director with the San Francisco office, joining the firm’s State and Local Tax practice. Michael has over 19 years of experience in California and federal tax law with a focus on California tax controversy. Based in Sacramento, Michael will be at the epicenter of California tax administration.

Prior to joining Andersen, Michael spent almost eight years with the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and over a year as the FTB Liaison to the Board of Equalization Chair and Member of the FTB. He was also a Senior Tax Counsel in FTB’s Multistate, Tax Shelter and Technical Resources Bureaus. Additionally, he has provided California tax controversy representation to Fortune 1000 clients while with several other Big Four firms.

Michael’s experience includes representing clients and the FTB in administrative hearings involving income/franchise, property, and sales & use tax issues; performing and directing legal research; and researching, drafting and finalizing opinions, pleadings, rulings, regulations, and other legal memoranda.

Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University, and Juris Doctor and Masters in Taxation from the University of San Diego, School of Law. He is also a retired U.S. Navy Captain, having served a combined 26 years in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve.
