Freda to Speak on Advanced Sales & Use

Interstate Tax Corporation trains and updates state tax practitioners on how to properly navigate the interstate tax system. The company is dedicated to the education of multistate tax professionals in industry, consulting and government through four seminars held in the spring and fall of each year and its publication, Interstate Tax Insights.

The Advanced Sales & Use Seminar takes place Friday, May 7-8, 2015, at the Doubletree Ocean Point Resort in Miami Beach, FL. Ray Freda’s session, “Accounting for Undisclosed Sales & Use Tax Liabilities” includes a discussion of obligations under FASB Statement No. 5 (FAS5 or ASC 450) to book appropriate reserves for undisclosed sales and use tax liabilities. Ray will discuss the impact of recent SEC orders related to failure to maintain appropriate internal controls and adequately reflect sales tax liabilities for both public and private companies and identify typical tax risk drivers which contribute to undisclosed liabilities. The session will close with a discussion of undisclosed liabilities and their impact on M&A as well as strategies for identifying, quantifying and mitigating tax exposure, thus reducing undisclosed sales and use tax liabilities.

Raymond Freda has over 18 years of state and local tax experience in advising clients with respect to income/franchise, gross receipts, sales and use, property, employment, and other state industry-specific excise taxes. He represents corporate and individual clients during state tax audits, conciliation conferences, and other administrative proceedings.
