Jim Hogan Presented at the American Society of Appraisers: International Appraisers Conference
The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is a non-profit organization that brings together appraisers from different appraisal concentrations, to network and improve the values of the appraisal career. The members of this organization come from various backgrounds including: Business Valuation, Personal Property, Appraisal Review and Management, Gems and Jewelry, Machinery and Technical Specialties and Real Property. The goal of the ASA is to raise awareness of the appraisal profession while maintaining a high level of professional standard.
ASA’s International Appraisers Conference was held on October 7-10, 2017 at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston, Texas. Jim Hogan, Andersen Tax Managing Director, presented on the topic of What’s New at the IRS on Estate and Gift Tax Matters. Jim spoke on new IRS matters, which included last year’s tax plan and the withdrawal of the section regulations.
Jim Hogan has over 35 years of legal and accounting experience and was most recently a Branch Chief in Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Office of the Chief Counsel. In that role, he had responsibility for all matters relating to estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues. In addition, he reviewed briefs filed by IRS in the United States Tax Court and memoranda to attorneys in the Department of Justice. Jim is a part of the US National Tax team in the Andersen Tax Washington, D.C. office location, serving as a resource for international taxation.
